Supporting Beginner

Season #1

In this new episode, I discuss the importance of supporting beginners in the Pilates industry. I emphasize the need for studios to attract and support beginners in order to grow their business.

I challenge the idea of requiring beginners to do one-on-one sessions before joining group classes, arguing that it is not scalable and can create an exclusive and intimidating environment. I also introduce a framework for motor learning, which includes the cognitive, associative, and autonomous stages.

 

I highlight the role of the teacher in empathizing with beginners and providing appropriate challenges to facilitate their learning.
